Max joined the sustainable future mission at Nesta in 2021. He has experience using mixed methods approaches to research domestic flexibility and has also worked on projects exploring future subsidies for heat pumps. His other work includes assessing the feasibility of alternative options for decarbonising the residential sector and improving in situ efficiencies of heating systems. 

Max has an MSc in Smart Energy and the Built Environment from The Bartlett, UCL. Whilst at the Bartlett he conducted a thesis on the behaviour of private energy assets under extreme conditions, exploring behaviours and attitudes towards aggregating domestic batteries into virtual power plants.
