Ken Gordon is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Director of the Ground Source Heat Pump Consultancy (GSHPs). He has been instrumental in shaping the inclusion of Shared Ground Loops, Ambient Loops, and Passive Cooling Networks – now formally recognised as the “Three Additional Technologies” – within the UK’s Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS), advocating for them being embedding in the technical standards with clarity, foresight, and practical relevance.
Ken has contributed extensively to government and industry working groups and is the executive author of the updated CIBSE guidance on ground and water source heat pumps. He previously served as a Technical Authority in the offshore energy sector, where he led on safety-critical standards and system assurance. His current focus is on influencing policy and developing robust technical frameworks to support the confident deployment of ultra-low temperature systems across zoning, assurance, and regulatory environments.
