Job title: Health and safety business leader
Claire has a BEng in manufacturing engineering with business studies. The subsequent years after University were spent learning how to put manufacturing management into theory, and then becoming a quality manager for a Tier-one Automotive Manufacturer. Her next was a role in a National Grid subsidiary company RTM which specialised in building and maintain mobile phone masts. In the following 12 years in National Grid Claire’s remit expanded to include not only environmental and quality management but also health and safety. In 2014, she joined Severn Trent Water as a health and safety business leader. Health and safety management is an area that Claire continues to feel very passionate about. Seeing first-hand the impact an injury can have on an individual, their families and their work colleagues has driven her to want to help organisations to implement effective, pragmatic and safe ways of working. Claire has seen through great leadership how one individual can truly make a difference and undoubtedly save lives. Her role is to support those leaders to have the safety vision and to make that impact.
