Editorial note - The countdown to 2030 is on
“2030 is fast approaching - the new deadline to decarbonise the power system and for water companies to deliver £100 billion of investment in their networks. We need to ensure not a single day is wasted.
The utilities sector has no shortage of targets and there is clear public will for investment in infrastructure to power the energy transition and reduce pollution into waterways. With a new government in place, hopefully heralding a period of political stability, utilities can now return to the important business of translating promises into progress.
Utility Week Forum will delve into how utilities can actually deliver on these vital pledges.
Where are the gaps in strategies? What resources will be needed in the second half of the decade and at what cost? Who will be the key partners and what is expected of them? How will barriers to success be overcome?
These are the key questions we will discuss at Utility Week Forum this November, bringing together senior figures from across the sector with key stakeholders to debate the opportunities, challenges and trade-offs as we count down to 2030.
