Power transmission operators have come together to establish a new industry charter for digitally enabled infrastructure delivery.

As GB’s transmission operators gear up to deliver unprecedented investment programmes, spurred on by the mission for clean power by 2030, efforts to improve efficiency and harness digital potential throughout the industry supply chain are intensifying.

The Charter aims to boost collaboration and accelerate adoption of common data standards which fall in line with Ofgem’s best practice guidelines. It’s a key output from the first Infrastructure Delivery Forum in September last year, where the three transmission operators came together to acknowledge that the challenge of delivering clean power will require new thinking around the way the industry eco-system operates and project delivery is managed.

The Charter principles have already prompted tangible action from the TOs and key partners via the launch of IM4Power. This industry-wide best practice network is spurring development of common information management standards and adoption of Building Information Modelling approaches.
