Earl began his career as a Gas Engineer specialising in installation, service and repair and has worked for Cadent (formerly National Grid) since 2010.

He joined the organisation as a Metering Operative and later transitioned into the role of an Emergency First Call Operative. His journey within Cadent has seen him excel in different areas across smart metering, hydrogen conversion and downstream operations.

Earl played a pivotal role in initiating Services Beyond the Meter, where Cadent harnesses its engineers to conduct CMDDA1 investigations and appliance works to support customers in vulnerable situations. These initiatives have also been adopted by other Gas Distribution Networks in some capacity.

Currently, Earl is working to scale Services Beyond the Meter across the organisation’s footprint to ensure the programme becomes an embedded and efficient process within Cadent's broader framework.
